Dr. Cheng’s specialty is Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery encompassing facial reconstruction, jaw surgery, obstructive sleep apnea, and temporomandibular joint surgery including arthroscopy, arthroplasty, and total TMJ replacement. Also, Dr. Cheng is well trained in the area of Pediatric Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Anesthesia, surgical extractions, facial trauma, and implant surgery.

Dr. Cheng is a graduate of Portland State University with honors, B.S., Chemistry, 1990. He then moved on to Harvard School of Dental Medicine where he obtained his Dental Medicine Doctor degree (D.M.D.) with Cum Laude et thesi propria, in 1995.
He was awarded his Medical Doctor degree (M.D.) and Specialty Certificate in Oral and Maxillofacial, Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania in 1997, and 2001 respectively, and he is currently Board eligible.
Dr. Cheng holds medical staff appointments at the Portland Legacy Hospital, and Providence-Saint Vincent Hospital Systems.
Besides his medical and surgical qualifications, Dr. Cheng is multilingual. He speaks English, Mandarin, Portuguese, and Spanish fluently. He enjoys interacting with patients from diverse cultural origins. Golf is one of his passions among other things.
